Jazz - Love it or Hate it - WHOdecides

IMHO Jazz is musical armed robbery...
Tonight, as with every Thursday in Tunbridge Wells, it's Jazz on the Pantiles.... another sunny evening ruined by the infernal screech

I have to admit that I think it's utterly shit.
Is it what trendy people like, or just knob heads?

A lot of it is brilliant. Dave Brubeck is my favourite.

My considered opinion is that jazz that I like, jazz that I would characterise as 'good jazz', is rather nice. On the other hand, jazz that I don't like, or what I would call 'bad jazz', is not very nice.
There. I've said it.

Jazz is cunts music made by smug cunts for cunts. I'd like everyone who has ever made it or listened to it to die.
Other than that I don't have much of an opinion on it.

I can't stand it. It's a bit like ballet or opera for me, I recognise the skill involved in producing it, but at a responsive level think it's utter shite.

I love jazz. For a lot of people it's an acquired taste, but I no longer waste my time trying to convert people.
However, if someone was interested in checking something out, I might point them in the direction of something lyrical like the Miles Davis track Basin Street Blues
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hhfe1SUe2-A
But there are lots of different styles of jazz.

It takes a certain mindset, so its not for everyone. But I fucking love it. Unfortunately I know no one else who has the same passion so I don't get to many gigs. I do however consider myself blessed and can't imagine life without Coltrane, Davis, Parker et al.
